How it All Began

The CountryWide Homes story begins with one enterprising father. Angelo DeGasperis - a young and ambitious immigrant who had arrived in Toronto from his native Italy. In 1954 he, along with his brother incorporated a small concrete and drain company under the name of Con-Drain.

Over the years this tiny business has steadily expanded into a major operation within the land development industry and has spawned many related companies along the way.

Companies in the Group construct roads; supply recycled and virgin aggregate materials; produce concrete pipe, precast units and lighting poles; manufacture valves and fittings; install gas lines, power lines, fibre optic cables, and street lighting; build houses and commercial and industrial buildings; and, develop large tracts of land for community living.

CountryWide Homes was conceived in order to develop master-planned communities and new homes in the Greater Toronto Area. Our proud tradition of quality craftsmanship, continuous innovation and trend-setting design regularly places us among the top five builders within The Greater Toronto Area.
