Newmarket Family Receives Support from CountryWide Homes
Published on: June 18, 2012
In October 2011, Emma Hill, a Grade 4 student in Newmarket, was diagnosed with a rare respiratory problem that has partially paralyzed her. Emma now requires specialized care, treatments and equipment.
Mayor of Newmarket Tony Van Bynen brought Emma’s story to the attention of CountryWide Homes who immediately agreed to renovate the family home in order to accommodate Emma’s particular needs. The company assigned employee Shane Dias the role of Project Manager.
While the full scope of Emma’s needs and the extent of renovations required are still being assessed, Dias’ team will start by widening doorways and making the bathroom wheelchair accessible. Emma thinks Dias is the “nicest construction guy ever” and is thrilled about the work being done to help her gain back her independence.
